What is the Gateway Plus Programme?

The Gateway Plus Programme has been specifically created to support International Medical Graduates obtain their first role as a Doctor in the NHS. It allows you to build on your existing experience, working at an appropriate grade to gain new and relevant experience in the NHS during 24 months of employment. Gateway Plus Doctors will initially work equivalent to FY2 level, before moving on to a higher grade, when assessed as capable by the Gateway Partner.*

Gateway Plus Doctors are paid equivalent to the level at which they work.

 

Is the Gateway Plus Programme right for me?

You can apply for this programme if you are an International Medical Graduate. We accept applications from Doctors, with varying levels of experience, gained in their country of origin. Apply for the Gateway Plus programme if:

  • You have GMC registration and a licence to practise
  • Are looking for up to 24 months employment
  • Opportunity to work in a specialty reflecting your experience

*The Gateway Partner refers to an NHS Trust in England, a health board in a devolved nation, or an Integrated Care System, who will be your employer, they will be responsible for provision of Visa Sponsorship. The majority of Doctors will start initially equivalent to an FY2.
