NHS Staffing Pool FAQs

Back to previous page

What are the timescales for hearing back after completing the application?

When we have received your information you will be added to the Staffing pool. We will then be working across the NHS and care sector to identify employment opportunities that suit your skills and experience. Where there are existing jobs for which you have the appropriate skills, this process is likely to happen quickly. Where there are no available jobs that match your skills at the current time the process will take a little longer.

Whichever is the case, you will hear from us in the next couple of weeks to update you on progress.

I didn't receive the email - should I have received one and how do I get access?

You should have received an email if you applied to work through NHSP during the Pandemic on either Test and Trace, the National Vaccination Programme, as part of Rapid Response or to support the Nightingale hospitals (even if you didn't actually get through to working shifts in these areas.)

We are contacting registered professionals first, so if you are currently not registered with a professional body you will not need to complete the application yet. If you are a registered professional then please follow this link to complete the application.

What are the different recruitment pathways available?

There are a number of different pathways available, from full or part time substantive posts, to flexible bank shifts in multiple locations, or even homeworking. The application includes questions which cover these pathways.

Will I get a confirmation email once I've submitted the application?

Yes. You will receive an email to confirm you have completed the application. Please ensure you check the junk folder.

If you do not receive a confirmation email please email us at nhsstaffingpool@nhsprofessionals.nhs.uk

You may also want to check that you have clicked on the ‘submit’ button at the end of the survey. This will trigger the e-mail.

How do I get bank shifts through NHSP at other Trusts?

There is a section in the application where you can state your preference for bank shifts and we will match your requirements with your local NHS Trusts or onboard you to NHSP’s National bank which will allow you to work across a number of different Trusts and health and care settings.

I applied for Test and Trace/Rapid Response/ National Vaccination/Nightingale but didn't go through the full process. Does it matter if I didn't work on one of these programmes?

No it does not matter. We are looking to match skills and general experience with job opportunities in the NHS, so experience of working on one of the emergency pandemic programmes is not essential.

I have applied for a programme previously but never got to work. What guarantee can you offer that if I follow this process I will find employment?

We cannot guarantee that everyone that applies to this programme will ultimately be employed in their chosen role or pathway. The process involves matching people’s skills to job opportunities that are available (or are created) in different geographic areas. If employing organisations in your area have no vacancies for someone with your skills then there may be no opportunities. We will, however, endeavour to explore every option available to give you the best chance of employment.

Who do I contact if I have questions about completing the application?

If you have any queries please email us at nhsstaffingpool@nhsprofessionals.nhs.uk or use our webchat service, available on any page of our website between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Why do I need to fill out my personal details again?

Even though you are already registered with NHS Professionals we need you to share personal details again, as the new platform, Tribepad, specifically helps us to match your skills and experience with job opportunities in the NHS.

I don't wish to apply and also want to close my registration with NHSP - what is the process?

We are sorry to see you go, but if you wish to end your registration with NHS Professionals then please complete a leavers form.
